4k CCTV cameras go mainstream

News
A new generation of ultra-HD CCTV is making big waves in the security community.
Offering four times the resolution of standard hi-definition cameras, 4k devices offer unparalleled clarity. A greater scope of visual information, and an increase in pixel density, ensures their stability for a variety of security applications. Major manufacturers, including Panasonic, Grundig and Sony, have added 4k lines to their inventories so expect to see their use globally.

With 4k cameras’ up-scaled resolution comes larger amounts of data. Known as ‘big data’, this can be stored via cloud computing in off-site dedicated server facilities. This will allow users to archive much larger volumes of videos and associated data with improved accessibility. Furthermore, this continues the trend of remote monitoring. Manpower and capital resources can also be freed up and better spent via the use of cloud storage.
